Hoops Aid 2013
“A massive ‘thank you’ to all those who helped make our first ever Hoops Aid a roaring success. Thousands of you turned up to enjoy a day of amazing basketball played by celebrities from stage and screen. Special thanks to Battle Back heroes and heroines and our friends from the BBL. The whole day was a tribute to the hard work put in by our staff and volunteers at Sports Traider and our supporters. We look forward to doing it all again in 2015!”
Lance Haggith, founder Sports Traider and creator of Hoops Aid
The aim of the day was to inspire and engage as many people as possible in sport – keeping the legacy of London 2012 alive. Building on the ‘feel good factor’ from the London Olympics and especially the Paralympics, Hoops Aid brought young and old, able-bodied and disabled, celebrities and members of the public … all together at the Copper Box Arena, Olympic Park. Featuring basketball as the key sport, the day was jam packed with mini tournements, a slam dunk spectacular and live music and dancing from a host of stars that gave their time freely to help raise valuable funds for the Sports Traider charity. Sports Traider’s mission is to break down the barriers to sport, enabling everyone to gain access to sports equipment and sports participation regardless of ability or background. All the profits from the event helped towards achieving this aim …and so much more.
